Our Story

Storyteller is a bookstore and coffee shop that has had it's home on the main street of Thermopolis, Wyoming, since 1999. In 2009, the current owner, Ellen Reed, purchased Storyteller and, with the help of the original owners, learned the business inside and out; but Ellen's love of books and coffee gave her great ambitions to grow her new business, and in less than five years, she did just that. Storyteller is now located in a larger store at 524 Broadway that offers cozy tables for customers to sit and enjoy a drink and a good read or visit with a friend.

In 2014, Ellen and her nephew decided to take their coffee game up a notch, as well, and developed Jackrabbit Java (read more about our coffee here) - their in-house coffee roasting company. In addition to the new atmosphere and fresh coffee, Ellen expanded Storyteller's section of gifts, toys, coffee accessories, and, of course, books! We strive to keep the book selection at Storyteller current, diverse, and relevent to our region with a wide selection of local authors and books pertaining to the Rocky Mountain region. Our friendly staff enjoy visiting with our customers to listen to their review of a new book, recommend a good gift, and serve a delicious beverage.

Stop in and feel at home at Storyteller.

But if you can't stop in, shop our online store and send us an email to say hello!
